The reverse displays a specially commissioned design by leading artists Edgar Fuller and Cecil Thomas originally created for the Queen’s Coronation in 1953, an historic day watched by millions worldwide. Featuring four symmetrical shields bearing the Arms of England, Scotland and Ireland, the famous design also incorporates the four floral emblems of the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, on the obverse is the UK's first ever official definitive coinage portrait of Her Majesty’s successor, Charles III. Designed by renowned sculptor Martin Jennings, this official effigy has been personally approved by the King himself.
